When you arrive in Colombo, you will be greeted by a SAZY representative who will serve as your local tour guide throughout your stay in Sri Lanka. You will then be transferred to a hotel in Colombo to recuperate and rest.
This morning, go to the Royal Sports Complex for some light training. The remainder of the day is free to be spent as you please. You might want to go sightseeing in Colombo’s downtown area.
Match Day | 01 – Race Course Colombo
The Colombo Racecourse grounds were a former harness racing course during WWII, as the name suggests. The stadium was renovated in 2012 and now hosts many of the most important school and club matches. It is also used as a home venue for international matches by the Sri Lanka national team.
Match Day | 02 – CR&FC
The division’s headquarters this ground, home to the Ceylonese Rugby & Football Club (CR&FC), is an ideal location for the second game of your tour. The stadium has a 500-seat viewing deck, two dressing rooms, and an outdoor bar for members and guests.
Drive up to Kandy this morning, which is known as Sri Lanka’s hill capital. You will be staying in Kandy. You can stop by the Millennium Elephant Foundation on the way (MEF). Spend a few hours with an elephant expert and animal rights activist who will give you the opportunity to see, walk with, and bathe the elephants.
Match Day | 03 – Bogambara Stadium, Kandy
This field was converted from a lake into a playing field in 1897. The venue has been designated as an international standard since its renovation in 1997. Many sports teams have recently chosen to use this venue for rugby as well as other sports.
Match Day | 04 – Bogambara Stadium, Kandy
After breakfast, depart for a temple tour of Kandy. Kandy is rich in history, culture, and religion. Although the effects of modernization are visible, a peek into the heart of this hill country capital reveals that its core remains traditional and friendly.
Walk through the crowds to the Kandy Temple, which is lined with small stalls selling pretty pink and white lotus flowers that are waiting to be offered by devotees. The path to the temple’s entrance is littered with monuments that tell important stories from the past. Inside this intricately designed structure, your guide will educate you on Buddhist beliefs and the architecture that supports them.
Lunch will be served at the hotel.
Load the bus and transfer to their respective ground for the second match — school venue or similar after lunch.
This evening, relax and enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Begin your descent toward Sri Lanka’s southern coast, stopping en route to see a turtle hatchery. The Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery is an excellent location for viewing collected and rescued eggs. During your stay in the south, you’ll be staying at the Hikkaduwa Hotel.
This day has been set aside for you to rest up for your final game. Your guide can accompany you on an evening exploration of Galle Fort.
Match Day | 05 – Koggala Stadium
You will play your final game at the Koggala grounds on the tour’s penultimate day. The remaining of the day will be free.
The tour’s final day will be spent at leisure. You will then be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport in advance of your flight.
